Thanksgiving is Going DOWN.

So, its Thanksgiving day. The turkey is on the table, as is the green bean casserole, pistachio pudding, jell-o, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, rolls, pumpkin pie, brownies, stuffing, and the little brother's Birthday cake.

                            Shit.

Its a REALLY bad time to be counting calories.

However, I'm winning the battle so far. I followed some tips from the Calorie Counters website, and simply controlled my portions, ate slowly, and picked the two things that I simply HAD to have: Green Bean Casserole and Pecan Pie. I kept my portions small, and didn't even fill up half of my plate. (All I had was green beans, turkey, a roll, and a slice of pecan pie). I didn't feel stuffed at all. I felt pleasantly full. All I have left to do is find a gym to get in a quick workout and I'll be all set!

All in all, I feel like I'm off to a good start!

Counting Calories

This week, I am embarking on a whole new journey. I will be traveling down the road of Calorie Counting.
At the risk of EVERYONE knowing every little detail about every part of my body I'm unhappy with, I'm sharing this in hopes that I'll be inspired by the support I receive from my friends.
On today, the 23rd of November, 2010, I weigh approximately 136 lbs. This is not an unhealthy weight for me. In all reality, I weigh right about what I should weigh. However, I am quickly approaching a line that would put me overweight, and I'm not happy with that.
I recently flipped through my pictures on Facebook from back in Junior year of high school. I started to tear up as I saw this beautiful, upbeat, tiny little twig of a girl with my face- only thinner. Then I flipped back to a present day picture and was appalled at the difference. Sure, we all gain weight after high school. I'm no longer climbing four flights of stairs between each class, or running around in my Cheerleading uniform, or burning who knows how many thousands of calories through Show Choir. Instead, I went to college, drank WAY too much alcohol, ate all the wrong things, and abandoned all physical activity that didn't involve walking to the Frat houses for another party.
To say the least, I'm quite a bit curvier than the 16 year old girl in those pictures.
                                          I intend to change that.
Today, I have a gym membership to Ames Racquet and Fitness Center. I'm starting my Calorie Counting adventure, and I'm hoping to fix my figure. And this is me inviting you all to follow my progress and give me some feedback. Lord knows I'll be needing to hear it!
